Ron Harrod Foundation Athletes Raising Keep the Bar
At Harrod Sport, we know world-class sporting achievements start years earlier - often on dark winter mornings, in quiet pools, on windswept tracks, and in empty velodromes. The Ron Harrod Foundation exists to meet young talent at that exact moment with practical support and encouragement, helping them turn promise into performance.
This year, our sponsored athletes have given us plenty to cheer about. Here are some more of the recent standout updates from the squad.
Will Ellard makes history in Singapore
At the World Para Swimming Championships (Singapore 2025), Ron Harrod Foundation athlete Will Ellard produced a sensational series of swims - topping the podium four times and adding 2 world records and 4 championship records for good measure.
- Men's 200m S14 Freestyle — Gold
- Mixed 4 × 100m Freestyle Relay — Gold
- Mixed 4 × 100m Medley Relay — Gold
- Men's 100m S14 Butterfly — Gold
- Men's 100m S14 Backstroke — Bronze
Will's performances were a masterclass in preparation meeting opportunity. We're incredibly proud to have played a small part in his journey and can't wait to see what comes next.
Jessica Staines steps onto a bigger stage
Fresh from a strong summer, Jessica Staines is lining up for the U18 National event in Corby - her biggest competition for around nine months. That kind of step up demands composure, consistency and belief. Jessica has all three. Whatever the result, this is exactly the kind of moment the Foundation aims to unlock: giving young athletes the platform to test themselves at the highest level in their age group.
Josh Amm finds speed- and confidence
It's been a busy spell on two wheels for Josh Amm. After a string of road events, he tackled a national crit race at Cyclopark in Kent and performed brilliantly - evidence that his hard work is converting into race craft. Josh is currently sharpening his track legs at the Derby Velodrome, with Nationals on the boards in February circled in his calendar. The excitement is real - and so is the momentum.
Millie Suffling re-selected for City of Norwich in the National Arena League
Another proud moment in the pool: Millie Suffling has been re-selected to swim for City of Norwich in the National Arena League this year. Selection is never guaranteed; it's earned session by session. Millie's dedication to training and love for the sport continue to shine through.
Why the Ron Harrod Foundation matters
Talent is universal; opportunity isn't. The Ron Harrod Foundation bridges that gap by backing athletes with the practical support that makes a difference - help with essential kit, specialist coaching time, travel to competitions, and all the little things that add up to big breakthroughs.
For us at Harrod Sport, this isn't just about results (as thrilling as they are). It's about character, resilience and the confidence young people gain when someone believes in them.
We'll continue to share updates as the season unfolds - especially as Jessica heads to Corby, Josh targets Nationals on the track, Millie battles it out in the league, and Will builds on a golden year.
