Women's Rugby World Cup 2025: England Hosts, Red Roses Rise - and Our Posts Stand Tall

The Women's Rugby World Cup kicks off on Friday 22 August - right here in England - and it's set to be the biggest edition yet: 16 teams travelling the country, record crowds expected, and a final under the lights in London on Saturday 27 September.

At Harrod Sport, we're proud that our rugby posts will be in place at Allianz Stadium in Twickenham for the final, at cinch Stadium at Franklin's Gardens in Northampton, and at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland - three of the tournament's headline venues this year. (The opening night sees England face the USA in Sunderland, with a Pool A clash against Samoa in Northampton the following weekend.)

Why this tournament is so special

This year marks the 10th Women's Rugby World Cup, three decades on from the first in 1991. Since then, the event has grown from a niche celebration to a global showpiece - and 2025 is poised to smash attendance records.

The Red Roses: favourites on home soil

England arrive as strong favourites. Under head coach John Mitchell, the Red Roses have produced a relentless run of results since the narrow 34–31 defeat to New Zealand in the 2022 final - winning 57 of their last 58 matches - and they're coming off another dominant Six Nations. Expect set-piece precision, pace out wide and serious depth across the squad.

Key dates for England fans

  • Fri 22 Aug – England v USA, Stadium of Light (Sunderland)
  • Sat 30 Aug – England v Samoa, cinch Stadium at Franklin's Gardens (Northampton)
  • Sat 27 Sep – Final, Allianz Stadium (Twickenham, London)
(Full fixtures on the official site.) - https://www.rugbyworldcup.com/2025/en

Previous winners at a glance

Only three nations have ever lifted the trophy:

  • New Zealand – 6 titles (1998, 2002, 2006, 2010, 2017, 2021*).
  • England – 2 titles (1994, 2014).
  • USA – 1 title (1991).
*Played in 2022, officially the 2021 tournament.

Where it's being played

World Rugby has spread matches across England to bring the tournament to more communities. Venues include Brighton & Hove, Bristol (Ashton Gate), Exeter (Sandy Park), Manchester (Salford), Northampton (Franklin's Gardens), Sunderland (Stadium of Light), York, with the showpiece final at the Allianz Stadium in Twickenham London.

How to get involved and support the Red Roses

  • Be there: Tickets are selling fast, with a record crowd expected for the final. Check the official Matches page for availability and updates - https://rwc2025.rugbyworldcup.com/
  • Watch from home: In the UK, BBC Sport is carrying tournament coverage, with all home nations' games on free-to-air TV.
  • Fly your colours: Wear red, organise a club watch-party, and get the juniors involved at your local rugby club - nothing beats watching together when England run out.
  • Share the moments: Back the team on social, amplify women's rugby stories, and introduce someone new to the game.

Our role on the pitch (literally)

From grassroots pitches to the world's biggest stages, Harrod Sport's goalposts and rugby posts are engineered for performance, safety and reliability. We'll be on duty at the Allianz Stadium in Twickenham for the final, and at Franklin's Gardens and the Stadium of Light during the pool stages - helping create a world-class stage for the game's best. (If you're visiting, look up: that's our handiwork.)

Bring it home, England. The Red Roses, our posts, one goal.

Challenges of a sloping football pitch

10/05/15 By

Many people in this situation assume that the crossbar should follow the gradient of the slope, however in our opinion this is in fact incorrect and unachievable. Goals Installed in this way will not only result in a sloping crossbar but with the uprights leaning also, providing both an unsightly and unstable goal.
