From Suffolk to the Olympic Stage

Celebrating One Year Since the Hockey World Came Together at Paris 2024

Exactly one year ago, the world turned its attention to Paris for the 2024 Olympic Games. In stadiums across the French capital, history was made. And at the heart of the hockey competition, Harrod Sport was there, quietly and proudly ensuring that everything ran flawlessly.

As the Sole Supplier of Hockey Equipment for Paris 2024, we were entrusted with delivering the very goals, shelters, and accessories that framed every pass, goal, and golden moment on the field. Today, as we reflect on this landmark anniversary, we're taking a moment to celebrate the journey, from the Suffolk countryside to the Olympic spotlight.

Supporting Every Match, From First Whistle to Last Goal

The field hockey tournament at Paris 2024 took place at the iconic Stade Yves-du-Manoir, a stadium steeped in Olympic history. But behind every match was a team working tirelessly to make it all happen. From day one, Harrod Sport was on the ground, supporting athletes and organisers with equipment that could perform under the highest pressure.

From FIH Class 1 Weighted Hockey Goals to Olympic-branded corner flags and portable team shelters, our products were used in every single game. Whether it was a decisive semi-final or a nail-biting group match, our gear delivered.

Our dedicated team was onsite throughout the competition. They worked behind the scenes conducting morning and evening equipment checks, training volunteers, and even replacing nets damaged by overenthusiastic broadcasters!

The Journey to Paris: A Timeline of Precision and Passion

Our Olympic story began in May 2022, when the Paris 2024 Organising Committee opened a call for suppliers. After months of proposals, negotiations, and video calls, we were officially awarded the contract in March 2023. It was a moment of immense pride for everyone at Harrod Sport.

By July 2024, our equipment was fully installed and tested, thanks to the tireless work of our in-house assembly and support team. When the Games officially began, we were there, not just as suppliers but as passionate champions of sport.

Olympic-Grade Equipment from our UK factory

The Paris 2024 project was a true showcase of British design and engineering. Manufactured in Lowestoft, Suffolk, our products travelled hundreds of miles to stand on the world's biggest sporting stage.

Our Paris 2024 line-up included:

  • 6m Portable Team Shelters
  • FIH-Class Hockey Goals
  • Weighted Blue Nets
  • Sin Bin Seating
  • Elite Technical Shelters
  • Portagoal Trolleys
  • Custom Olympic corner flag sets

Each item was crafted with precision, durability, and performance in mind, hallmarks of Harrod Sport since day one.

A Legacy Beyond the Final Whistle

The Olympic Games are more than just a sporting event, they're a celebration of excellence, unity, and inspiration. For us, Paris 2024 was a chance to stand shoulder to shoulder with some of the best athletes and organisers in the world.

As we look back one year on, we're filled with gratitude. To everyone who has trusted our equipment, from grassroots clubs to international federations, thank you. Your confidence in our products helps us to take these monumental steps.

And to Paris: merci. It was an honour to play our part.

What's Next for Harrod Sport?

With Paris in the rear-view mirror, we're not slowing down. We will continue to supply major international events, including the FIFA World Cup, the Commonwealth Games, and more. But it's the legacy of Paris 2024 that will always stand out, a shining example of what's possible when expertise meets opportunity.

Here's to the next Olympic chapter...and beyond.

Challenges of a sloping football pitch

10/05/15 By

Many people in this situation assume that the crossbar should follow the gradient of the slope, however in our opinion this is in fact incorrect and unachievable. Goals Installed in this way will not only result in a sloping crossbar but with the uprights leaning also, providing both an unsightly and unstable goal.
